In the spring of 1999 the garden division of the ISLAND PACIFIC RAILROAD was started. Spring and summer were
taken up mainly with laying track track and garden work. Originally we decided on battery power so wiring the
track was not undertaken.
Over the winter several buildings were constructed for a town and an LGB hand pumpcar and a Porter locomotive
were modified to look less toy like. I decided not to convert these to battery power because of their small size,
so in the spring of 2000, a trench was dug beside the track for wire and power was hooked up about every 10 feet.
Split Jaw Rail Connectors made it easy to ensure conductivity between track sections and to hook up the power.
Time has seen the continued development of the town, the aquistion of an LGB articulated steam engine with the most
realistic sound (including brake squeal as it stops), and the additional track, trestle etc.
