The ISLAND PACIFIC RAILROAD has been honored by Canada Post with the issuance of a commemorative postage stamp!
Featuring one of the Island Pacific's steam locomotives negotiating a stretch of rail in its garden division, the 48 cent postage stamp will allow the mailing of a First Class letter within Canada. To the best of our knowledge this is the first time a model railroad has been depicted on a Canadian Stamp.
Yes, its true. This is a legal stamp issued through Canada Post. How is it that such an honor has been bestowed on the ISLAND PACIFIC RAILROAD ? Well we like to think our modeling efforts justify this honor but we did give the matter some help. For the low price of $24.95 plus GST and PST (total $28.57) Canada Post will print up a sheet of 25 stamps featuring the picture of your choice ( grandchildren, pets, whatever, as long as you own the copy right, that is your own photo).
